Senior Protection testing Engineer

Job Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our expanding team in India. This position is perfect for candidates with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in the Testing and Commissioning of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems, specifically within the Transmission Substation sector.

As part of our highly skilled team, you will be responsible for executing testing and commissioning services for substations (33kV, 110kV, 220kV, 400kV), utilizing industry-leading testing equipment such as Omicron, Doble, and Megger.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaising with the Commissioning manager and project engineers to produce and develop protection Inspection test plans and provide technical support of protection testing and commissioning circuits.

• Conversant of protection schemes and ability to interpret all technical drawings.

• Conversant in all protection relay configuration/software proficiency/testing procedures of the power industry manufacture relays in the market.

• Commissioning, testing, and maintaining HV Protections systems / schemes, and IEC61850 / GOOSE communications.

• Commissioning, testing and maintaining HV Substations secondary systems.

• Provide leadership, technical support and training to Junior Engineers.

• Competent in preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, protection test plans and create detailed technical reports on completion of works and update drawings to as built status.

• Experience using Omicron / Dobel test equipment and software’s.

• Plan and carry out electrical testing and commissioning work in a safe manner, always adhering to health and safety procedures.

• Manage the interface between stakeholders and other contractors

• Project a professional image to clients and colleagues

• Contribute to the future success of projects and its clients

Key Requirements

• Must hold Electrical Engineering Degree / Diploma in Electrical or equivalent

• Hands-on experience with leading manufacturers' protection relays, such as ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, GE, and SEL, including commissioning and troubleshooting.

• Extensive knowledge of various types of protection relays (e.g., distance, overcurrent, differential, transformer protection) and their applications in high-voltage substations.

• Working knowledge of appropriate Indian and International Standards and Codes of Practice relevant to the HV Industry.

• 3+ years of experience in the Protection relay Testing.

• Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

• Proven ability meeting project quality, schedule and budget requirements.

• Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism & communication

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

• 3+ years of relevant field experience.
