Job Overview
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Lead Testing & Commissioning Engineer to join our expanding team in India. This position is perfect for candidates with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in the Testing and Commissioning of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems, specifically within the Power sector.
As part of our highly skilled team, you will be responsible for executing complex testing and commissioning services for substations (LV,MV,HV,EHV Systems ), Your ability to oversee and supervise testing procedures, ensure the highest standards of safety, and mentor junior engineers will be critical to the success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently plan and execute pre-commissioning, commissioning, and energization activities for LV, MV, HV, and EHV transmission substations.
Lead testing and commissioning of Power Transformers, CTs, PTs/CVTs, Circuit Breakers (SF6, Vacuum & Oil), Isolators, Earth Switches, Surge Arresters, Capacitor Banks, Reactors, Busbars, GIS/AIS equipment, and LV/MV Switchgear systems.
Review and validate Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), protection and control schematics, interlocking logic diagrams, wiring drawings, cable schedules, and technical specifications to ensure system readiness and compliance.
Perform and supervise schematic checks, wiring verification, loop checks, interlock testing, and functional testing of protection, control, and monitoring systems.
Configure, test, and commission numerical protection relays and associated protection schemes for transformers, transmission lines, busbars, feeders, and reactors in accordance with approved settings and utility requirements.
Coordinate end-to-end commissioning activities, including outage planning, switching schedules, system integration, and energization procedures.
Troubleshoot complex protection, control, communication, and equipment-related issues during testing and commissioning, ensuring timely resolution and minimal project delays.
Interface with SCADA/SAS teams to verify control functions, alarms, indications, event records, and communication signals prior to system handover.
Review, verify, and update as-built drawings, red-line markups, and commissioning documentation to ensure accuracy of final project records.
Prepare and review commissioning reports, test records, inspection reports, method statements, punch lists, and final handover documentation.
Coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, OEM specialists, EPC contractors, and utility representatives to ensure successful project execution and compliance with project milestones.
Provide technical guidance and supervision to junior commissioning engineers and technicians during testing and energization activities.
Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and utility commissioning standards throughout all site activities.
Support site acceptance tests (SAT), reliability runs, performance verification, and final handover of commissioned substations to operations teams.
Key Requirements:
3+ years of proven experience in Testing and Commissioning within Transmission Substations (33kV, 110kV, 220kV, & 400kV), with a strong focus on HV and LV systems.
Proficient in the use of testing equipment such as Omicron, Doble, and Megger for primary and protection relay testing.
Hands-on experience in the testing and commissioning of, AIS and GIS substations, and LVAC systems.
In-depth understanding of Indian standards, utility regulations, and safety protocols for electrical infrastructure projects.
Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate teams, ensuring quality standards and deadlines are consistently met.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to resolve technical challenges and maintain positive working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree/Diplomo in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
3+ years of relevant field experience in Testing & Commissioning.
Commissioning skills of Electrical HV Systems (preferable).
